From Saga Prefecture. Graduated from the Nihonga (Japanese Painting) Department of Tama Art University. Studied under the 12th and 13th generation Kakiemon. Received the Excellence Award at the Issui-kai in 1969. Succeeded the 14th generation Kakiemon in 1982. Received the Japan Ceramic Society Award in 1984. Received the Encouragement Prize of the Japan Kogei Association at the Japan Traditional Kogei Art Exhibition in 1986. Designated as a holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure) for "Iroe Jiki (Colored Porcelain)" in 2001.
