This is a listing for a Nipponophone horn-type hand-cranked gramophone. It features a large horn with a 53cm opening diameter and a 43cm depth, making it an excellent interior design piece. Sound has been confirmed to play using SP records. There are no markings on the nameplate or elsewhere to identify the manufacturing year, but it is believed to be a product from the early Showa era or earlier. The following repairs were performed for this listing: ① The hardened old grease on the mechanical parts was washed off with parts cleaner and new molybdenum grease was applied. ② The rubber holding the mica diaphragm of the soundbox had hardened, so it was replaced with new silicone rubber. The broken parts of the needle attachment were replaced (Photo 18). ③ Vibration damping was applied to the tone arm bearing using adhesive butyl rubber. The butyl rubber is sticky (Photo 16). ④ Considering the appearance as an interior design piece, the tattered turntable mat was removed and a self-made red felt mat was placed on it (the turntable surface with the mat removed is shown in Photo 13). The listening results after the repairs are as follows, based on personal impressions: ⑴ The sound pressure in the mid-range is overwhelming. Since I cannot confirm the sound quality when it was new, I cannot say whether the sound quality is good or bad, but the vibration damping measures in ② and ③ above have significantly reduced the rattling noise. ⑵ There is a waviness in the turntable rotation, and a rolling sound is heard. I cannot compare this to a new one either, but the rotational noise is buried in the record playback sound and is not noticeable. ⑶ Regarding rotational stability, it seems to stabilize if you fully wind the mainspring, then raise the speed adjustment lever to about the halfway position, and then lower it to the 78 rpm position, and after a moment, lower the needle. (78 rpm is approximate and marked.) Please judge the appearance from the attached photos. There are no photos from when it was new, so I don't know if there are any missing parts. Six SP records (2 Western music and 4 Hibari Misora) and 80 replacement needles are included. These were purchased on Mercari for listening and adjustment purposes. One of the records has a deformation on the outer edge, and the other three have cracks on the surface, but they can be played. One side of the Hibari Misora record has a needle skip. Please consider the records as junk items. The horn part will be detached and included. It is easy to install, so please attach it yourself. This is an antique item. It is currently in working condition, but a warranty period cannot be set. No claims or returns are accepted.
