The laces are elastic. These are stylish long boots, like sneakers. Both my son and daughter wore them. I'm selling them because they've outgrown them. They're not light, but they don't feel overly heavy. The color of the elastic looks bright in the photos, but it's actually a bit darker. The white parts show some dirt, but they're still wearable. Please understand that these are used items.
