This is a MIDI sound module released by Roland in 1995. I obtained it around 1996-97 as part of the DTM (Desktop Music) beginner package "Musi-Rou." It has 654 tones, a maximum polyphony of 64, and a maximum of 32 parts. It was a dream come true for me, who had been making music with the Super Famicom games "Dezaemon" and "Ongaku Tsukuru Kanaderu" until then. I stopped using it after purchasing the successor model, the SC-8850, around 2000, and in recent years it has been stored in a box in the attic of my parents' house along with other PC peripherals. As a side note, the sound of the BGM in Final Fantasy VIII and Wild Arms 2, which were released on the PlayStation, is very SC-88-like. ◆Included Items ・SC-88VL ・Roland genuine AC adapter ・MIDI cables x 2 (bonus) ◆Condition of the product Regarding the exterior of the main unit, there is some rust on the bottom, but there is no significant damage. The AC adapter makes a rattling sound when shaken, but it works. The box, instruction manual, and other components of "Musi-Rou" (SSW, etc.) are all missing. The MIDI cables were found plugged into this product, so I will include them as a bonus. ◆Operation check It powers on and I was able to connect it to my PC via an audio interface.
