It was actually useful as an outer layer for daycare, and it's still in good condition thanks to its sturdy construction. There's hardly any sign of wear. There's no fraying of the embroidery or chipping of the zipper. I think you can still use it comfortably. It blocks the wind, and the neck area is well-made, so I had the impression that if you wore this over a sweatshirt, you could use it until it got quite cold.
