Thank you for viewing. This is a set of Ichisei-saku carved shogi pieces, written in the Shokou style. Each stroke was painstakingly hand-carved with a carving knife. The lacquer is the finest black roiro, with a matte finish to create a deep, subdued luster. The surface has been polished using sandpaper up to 3000 grit to bring out the natural beauty of the wood.
