SONY Studio 1980 (CF-1980) This is a Showa-era FM/AM radio cassette player that was all the rage. It is being sold as junk, but it is a one-owner machine that I have personally owned, so I will describe its condition as accurately as possible. First, regarding the exterior, the front seems to be in good condition. The carrying handle functions, but it does not stop at the top (Photo 1). The antenna extends and retracts straight, and the tip cap is present (Photo 2). The rear is in good condition (Photo 3). There is rust on the metal parts on the left and right sides (Photos 4 and 5). The bottom is also in good condition, and the battery cover is not damaged. I have not confirmed operation with D-cell batteries (Photos 6 and 7). Something melted and solidified in front of the REVEW button (Photo 8). The tape selector switch is in the NORMAL position, and the LOUDNESS switch is broken off and missing (Photo 9). However, normal tapes are the only ones available in the market these days, and the loudness is always ON, so you can always enjoy rich sound. It's a bit sad that there's no choice, and the appearance is also damaged, but in reality, there is no major problem. Regarding functionality: The dial light illuminates (Photo 10). The AM radio has some contact issues with the BAND switch, but it can connect and receive signals after operating it a few times (NHK Tokyo 1st broadcast received. Photo 11). The FM radio can also receive signals in the same way as AM (NACK5 received. Photo 12). The meter is also moving. The cassette player works, and sound is output during playback, but the rubber belts need maintenance, and there is significant wow and flutter. Fast forward, rewind, and pause functions work. Recording has not been confirmed (Photo 13). This is a one-owner item purchased new 50 years ago. You can enjoy it as a representative radio cassette object of the Showa era. The power cord and cassette tapes are not included.
