After purchasing new, the main unit was kept in a TV rack and the remote control was used with a cover, so both the main unit and remote control are relatively clean with no noticeable scratches. However, Blu-ray often fails to record and play. (Recording is almost impossible, and playback is more likely to work with commercially available software designed for playback only.) DVDs and the built-in HDD, on the other hand, work without any problems for both recording and playback. (Therefore, it can be used without issue as a DVD recorder compatible with AVCREC.)
