A folk religious toy from the Hanamaki region of Iwate Prefecture. When visiting Kannon to pray, people would offer a straw horse to the deity at night so as not to be seen by others. When their prayers were answered, they would bring back the naked straw horse, decorate it with cloths of various colors as a thank you, and return it to the deity at night.
