Found this in my parents' storage room. I believe it's from the early to mid-Showa era. This is a set of "kuke-dai" (a sewing frame) and "kake-bari" (a hooking needle) used for Japanese tailoring (sewing). • Purpose: This is a traditional sewing tool used to make "kuke-nui" (a type of blind stitch) easier by stretching the fabric taut, resulting in neat seams. • Mechanism: You sit on the base and secure it, hook the fabric onto the top of the upright pole, and then use the hooking needle in your hand to hold the fabric while you work. • Features: It's made of wood and has a retro feel.
