He is depicted with a shaved head, wearing a kesa (monk's robe), holding a shakujo (staff) in his right hand and a hoshu (treasure orb) in his left hand. While similar to statues of high priests, the fact that Jizo is not depicted as an old man is a distinguishing feature.
