This is a natural stone Akama suzuri (inkstone) from Yamaguchi, Choshu, made by an artist. Although it has some wear, it features a fine carving of a plum tree, intentionally finished in a natural, unrefined style with chisel marks. It is a work of art by an artist. There seems to have been a signature on the back, but it has worn away over time and is no longer visible. The style resembles the works of Mr. Shoryuzan, but the dates don't seem to match. However, the work itself is quite good. I am offering it at a low price this time. What do you think? Upon further inspection, I found a repaired crack on the sea (the ink grinding surface), so I will lower the price considerably.
