Moreover, he asked him to ask the Virgin for something that would be proof. He told the Virgin about this, and the Virgin told him to take the roses that were blooming all over the hill. And she said, "I am the Virgin who protects this land. Call me Guadalupe." He quickly cut many of the roses and wrapped them in his cloak. He opened his cloak in front of the bishop and showed him the roses. Not only was it strange that roses were blooming in the middle of winter, but the roses were a type that only existed in Spain. Moreover, the image of the Virgin Mary with the same brown complexion and black hair as he had met was reflected on the inside of the cloak. This image of the Virgin Mary that appeared on Juan Diego's cloak is the "Virgin of Guadalupe." Later, a church was built on Tepeyac Hill, as the Virgin had wished, and this cloak was placed inside. A new church was built in 1709, but due to ground subsidence, a newer cathedral was built in 1976, and the painting of the Virgin was also moved to this cathedral. Currently, the painting of the Virgin that appeared on this cloak is hung on the back wall of the cathedral, and there is a moving walkway in front of it, and pilgrims ride this walkway to see this painting. 20 million pilgrims visit from home and abroad every year.
