This is a flower vase by Emu Yamada of Tokoname. Purchased at a solo exhibition over 30 years ago. Camellias gently adding color to the winter landscape. This flower vase softly embraces the round buds and the softness of the petals as they unfurl. This is an early work by Emu Yamada, with the rough texture of the clay, which feels warm to the touch, and a deep color where charcoal black subtly blends. It doesn't feel hard, but rather has a sense of enveloping stillness, and it elegantly complements the gentle presence of the camellia. The natural shape of the opening gently cradles the buds of winter camellias, allowing a single flower to be inserted, creating a winter scene that unfolds. Purchased at a solo exhibition over 30 years ago, it has been carefully stored unused. The original box is also in good condition. It goes well with camellias, which are like small lights in the cold season. This is a Tokoname flower vase by Emu Yamada, which purely receives the presence of winter tea flowers such as camellias, wasabi, sasanqua, and daffodils. Just by gently placing a single flower in it, the vessel itself becomes a "scene," and a quiet time flows in the alcove.
