Thoroughly studied everything from classical to improvisational music, traditional instruments, and ethnic music through music academies, universities, and private lessons. The main instrument, the Hardanger fiddle, is said to be a development of the viola d'amore, and has 4 main strings plus 4 or 5 resonance strings under the fingerboard.
