This is a free cup (teacup) from the "Night Cherry Blossom Painting" series by Kazuyo Nakamura, a ceramic painter at the Arita-yaki Kinryu Kiln. It was part of my mother's collection and was displayed without being used. There is no box. The cherry blossoms blooming on a spring night are depicted with a beautiful contrast of vivid blue and pale pink. Each petal is delicately painted by hand by skilled craftsmen. This is a popular, long-selling design also known as the "Tokishirase" series. The shape is easy to hold and is suitable for everyday use.
