SIERRA DESIGNS was founded in 1965 in the United States by George Marks and Bob Swanson, taking its name from the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Above all, the biggest feature is the "60/40 cloth." The "60/40 cloth" has a unique and elegant luster and a comfortable texture. It is characterized by a fabric woven with cotton weft and nylon warp. The cotton weft absorbs moisture from the outside air and swells, compressing the nylon warp to provide waterproof and windproof functions. When dry, the cotton contracts and releases moisture inside the clothing, maintaining a comfortable environment inside the garment. It has superior durability against friction and tearing compared to 100% nylon, and its high quality was highly valued at the time.
