A set of five octagonal Mukouzuke (small serving dishes) from Imari ware, dating from the mid to late Edo period. They are in the colored overglaze "Sometsuke-Nishiki" style. The inside features a phoenix design in gold and red enamel and underglaze blue. The sides have eight windows depicting chrysanthemums and seigaiha (wave pattern). The reverse side features floral patterns in colored enamel, seigaiha and higaki (cypress fence) patterns in red enamel. The base has an underglaze blue mark that reads "Made in the Jiajing era of the Great Ming Dynasty." These are high-quality, superior pieces. Size: 14.5 cm diameter at the mouth, 8.5 cm diameter at the base, 4.5 cm height. The condition is excellent. They will be carefully packed and shipped.
