This is a fukuro obi (formal obi) made by Susumu Tatsumura, who carries on the lineage of Heizo Tatsumura, the founder of Tatsumura Textile Arts. Susumu Tatsumura is the third son of the first Heizo Tatsumura, who received the Art Academy's Onshi Award for his achievements in dyeing and weaving, including the restoration of Shosoin textiles. He dedicated his 90-year life to creating obi, and his obi designs number 500. Seeking inspiration as far away as the Silk Road, Persia, and even Europe, he reproduced ancient patterns on obi, creating "Densho Meikin" as the ultimate obi, combining the skills of a craftsman with artistic expression as a practical item. "Kongo Kinran" is one of the famous textiles, featuring a satin weave with vertical stripes in white, flower color, light brown, light yellow, red, yellow, etc., with small gold threads scattered with treasure motifs or a diamond pattern across the entire surface. It is said that the name comes from the fabric of a Noh costume given to the Noh actor Kongo Tayu by Hideyoshi. The weaving is supple yet heavy, with colors that are restrained, and patterns that have a sense of weight. The traditional, elegant beauty of the patterns becomes more profound and lustrous the more you look at it, and yet it has unwavering dignity. The artist's signature and name are placed in the middle of the tare (the part of the obi that hangs down). We hope you will enjoy it with formal to semi-formal attire such as visiting kimonos, tsukesage, and mon-iri iromuji (colored kimonos with crests) (^^) ● Japanese Color: A yellowish-brown color similar to Kuwazome (mulberry dye) ● Size: Length: Approximately 450cm Width: Approximately 31cm Please note that there may be slight variations due to amateur measurements. ● Material: Pure silk ● Condition: It has only been lightly matched, so it is beautiful and in very good condition. It is a beautiful item, but please understand that it is a used item before purchasing. ● Other Notes: There may be differences in the colors seen depending on your monitor, so please be aware if you are pursuing subtle colors. We also have many other kimonos, obi, Japanese accessories, antiques, and brand artists on display♪ Please take a look here #kafekimono #SusumuTatsumura
