I was once yelled at, "It's not wooden!" o(｀ω´ )o (but it turned out to be wooden after all when I scraped it), so if you don't trust the paint, please purchase directly from a craftsman's workshop... Don't add to the trauma... Three out of the five weigh over 160g, making them relatively heavy. Compared to my other bowls, they are slightly thicker overall and feel a bit more substantial. The thick bottom gives them a low center of gravity. The wood used for the base material also seems to be of a heavy nature. Regular-sized ceramic rice bowls are around 150g, so they aren't dramatically heavy, but please keep in mind that they are heavy for wooden bowls when considering a purchase. ^_^
