It is said that the connection stems from when Michizane, who was a Gon Dainagon (vice-councilor of state), stayed at Ohno Shrine when he visited Konze-ji Temple as an imperial envoy. The shrine is deeply revered as the "god of learning," "god of agriculture," "god who controls the weather," and "god of competition," and many students visit during the exam season. The romon (tower gate) facing east is a building from the early Kamakura period, the oldest romon in the prefecture, and is designated as an important cultural property of the country. It is also known as the ujigami (guardian deity) of the JRA Ritto Training Center, which is located nearby, and it is said that famous jockeys also wear amulets from this Ohno Shrine.
