This is a compass (magnetic compass). I purchased it at an antique market. A small bird, possibly a sparrow or a Japanese bush warbler, is carved on the back. The size is approximately 1 cm x 1 cm. I couldn't find any markings or engravings. The shop owner said it was 18k gold, but the details are unknown (I personally think the color is different). I think it was a decoration for a pocket watch, but the metal fitting is damaged (see photo 3). Therefore, I've marked it as having some scratches and stains.
