The design is a Madori-jin pattern, a simple and modern arrangement of traditional patterns. Shin was founded in 1830 during the Tenpo era in Arita Sarayama Toyama as the domain kiln of the Nabeshima clan. Since then, it has continued to burn with flames, and has undergone many changes over time to reach the present day. Until it became a private kiln in the Meiji era, new kilns dedicated to rough pottery such as large plates and large bowls were called "Shin-gama," and this name was passed on to the current company name. Even now, following the old ceramics of Arita, we are committed to "conversing with the vessel, the vessel is the person," and we continue to create vessels that breathe life into everyday life, mainly with hand-painted and hand-made sometsuke (blue and white) pottery.
