This is the "Koshidaka-Tora" (High-Waisted Tiger) from the Dekoyashiki area. The Koshidaka-Tora is a papier-mâché tiger imbued with the wish that travelers return safely home, inspired by the tiger's habit of "going a thousand miles and returning a thousand miles." It's a very popular figure. Being papier-mâché, it's very light. I've placed a ballpoint pen for size reference. I have other items for sale as well.
