Wooden carving craft: Hannya Mask Antique, vintage Demon Mask This is an old Hannya mask. I don't know the age. Showa, Taisho, Meiji Or even earlier? There is the name of the carver, but I can't read it. It makes use of the wood grain, I think it's a powerful Hannya mask/Demon mask. Years have passed, and it has a渋い (shibui - tasteful, subdued) color. Brownish-red. The color changes depending on the angle of the photo. A distinctive material? You can see the connection of the wood grain from the chin to the tip of the horns. Please check the images. I polished it with beeswax before listing it. Please ask any questions before purchasing.
