Since she can no longer play it due to her age, I decided to list it for sale, hoping someone will use it rather than letting it sit unused. I am a complete novice, so I cannot provide a detailed explanation of the item, but I do know that it was purchased from an instructor in the latter half of the Showa era and was quite expensive even then. The material is probably shitan (rosewood), isn't it? I apologize, but I am not knowledgeable, so please check the photos. This shamisen can have its neck replaced to change its length. I have taken a photo with the replacement neck placed next to the main body. Listening to my mother play, I remember that the sound of this shamisen was so distinct from the sound of a shamisen used for practice that even I, a novice, could tell the difference. It produced a solid sound. She played it often, but she cherished it very much, so apart from the tear, I think it is generally in good condition. By changing the neck, you can use it in two ways, so I think it's a good value. In my personal opinion, I feel that musical instruments produce a more familiar sound the more they are used.
