This is a pigeon cart I purchased from an antique shop. It's a famous folk toy from Nozawa Onsen, Nagano Prefecture. The area around Nozawa Onsen village has a lot of akebi vines, and folk crafts using those vines were made there. The pigeon cart was originally made from akebi vines. Due to a shortage and rising prices of raw materials, it began to be made from rattan vines. Therefore, the newly made ones are white, and they gradually change to a tasteful amber color over time. Currently, production has stopped due to a lack of successors, and it's becoming difficult to obtain, so I recommend it to collectors...^^ The packaging design of the box is also cute, so it seems like it would be good as interior decoration. As a side note... I sometimes see boxes with black labels, but I think this kind of whitish design is rare.
