# Tail Doll Dolls from the Taisho era are characterized by their deep black eyes. It seems that ink was applied to the back of the glass, and this is one of the charms not seen after the Showa era. Although it doesn't photograph well, depending on the light, it shows a wistful expression, as if something that had been sleeping was awakened. The Taisho era was a time when Japan was influenced by Western culture, and a slightly different "gaze" was born. I feel that the atmosphere of the times can be felt in the black eyes of this doll. There is no maker's mark because the doll's body is wrapped in paper from a doll shop, but it is Koryusai. This face is unique to this period, with the "elegance" of the first generation and the "sweetness" of the second generation. The third-generation Toko also identified it as Koryusai during the restoration, and I myself have confirmed a doll with the same face and maker's mark on Mercari. I welcomed this doll over 10 years ago in a damaged condition and had it restored as much as possible. The face has been slightly touched up by Toko, so it's a dream collaboration of "First Generation Koryusai + Second Generation Koryusai + Third Generation Toko." During the restoration, the hair was newly attached with real human hair using the traditional "glue," the eyebrows were lightly blurred to give an antique feel, the lipstick was added to a moderate degree, and the hands and feet were reconnected with new fabric. Currently, the remaining damage is on the back, the heel of the left foot, and the armpits of both arms, where there are drying cracks. Please check the photos.
