Fukagawa Seiji, an Arita-cho porcelain brand, was established in 1894 (Meiji 27) after separating from Koransha. In the 1900 Paris Exposition, Fukagawa Seiji's works won the highest honor, the Médaille d'Or. It is a prestigious Arita-yaki brand favored by the Imperial Household. The "Furi Botan Gaiaka" pattern depicts peonies, known as the "king of flowers," as a symbol of prosperity and wealth. Fukagawa Seiji skillfully combines sometsuke (blue and white) and gold accents to express vibrant, three-dimensional peonies. Furthermore, the traditional "Sotodami" technique, which involves painting the outside of the design in vermilion, creates a vivid contrast with the indigo and gold, producing an elegant and dignified atmosphere. This series is highly popular for its splendor and auspiciousness, and it is particularly highly regarded within Fukagawa Seiji. Good tableware gains more depth of flavor with age.
