Thank you for viewing. This is a set of 3 Fukagawa Seiji Arita-yaki lidded teacups with the "Furi Botan Gaiaka" (Shaking Peony, Red Exterior) pattern, and a set of 6 matching saucers. Size: Teacup: 8.5cm diameter x 5cm height (8cm with lid) Lid diameter: 9cm Saucer: Approximately 11.5cm diameter *Please forgive any slight size discrepancies due to amateur inspection. Fukagawa Seiji, an Arita-cho porcelain brand, was established in 1894 (Meiji 27) after separating from Koransha. In the 1900 Paris Exposition, Fukagawa Seiji's works won the highest honor, the Médaille d'Or. It is a prestigious Arita-yaki brand favored by the Imperial Household. The "Furi Botan Gaiaka" pattern depicts peonies, known as the "king of flowers," as a symbol of prosperity and wealth. Fukagawa Seiji skillfully combines sometsuke (blue and white) and gold accents to express vibrant, three-dimensional peonies. Furthermore, the traditional "Sotodami" technique, which involves painting the outside of the design in vermilion, creates a vivid contrast with the indigo and gold, producing an elegant and dignified atmosphere. This series is highly popular for its splendor and auspiciousness, and it is particularly highly regarded within Fukagawa Seiji. Good tableware gains more depth of flavor with age. The various auspicious patterns are perfect for New Year's and celebratory occasions, enhancing a festive dining table. When used with items like a cherry blossom lunch box, the elegance is further accentuated, allowing you to enjoy a high-class atmosphere. (See the last photo for a reference product) As it has been hardly used since acquisition, there may be some minor scratches on the gold accents due to aging, but there is no peeling, and it is in relatively good condition. This is a used item stored at home, so please purchase if you understand vintage items and like Mingei (folk art). We hope you will cherish it, understanding that it is a long-term storage item. There is no original box, so it will be carefully packed with cushioning materials for shipping. Immediate purchase is welcome. Thank you. We are also listing other traditional crafts and Mingei items in separate listings, so please consider them as well. #Market307's traditional crafts are here
