(Teika-donsu) The original piece is a pale green base with a white-brown color, woven with a design of double arabesques, chrysanthemums, and small flower patterns thought to be peonies, creating an elegant and refined fabric. It is said that the name "Teika" came from the fact that this fabric was used for the uchikake (outer garment) of Teika, a famous geisha from Shimabara, Kyoto, although the truth of this is unknown. This is a high-class work, and judging from the weaving technique, it is thought to have been produced in the early Ming Dynasty of China.
