I believe this item is from the early Showa era. The overall length is approximately 50cm, and the width of the strainer part is about 22cm (approximate measurements, for reference only). The handle is made by bending a single piece of wood, and I suspect the netting is made of bamboo. I wonder if old farmers made these by hand during the off-season... Holding the actual item makes me think, "Wow, that's amazing." This item was in my grandmother's general store in a rural town in Gunma Prefecture. It was stored in a warehouse, and I brought it home because it seemed a shame to leave it there. Please examine the photos carefully (there are cracks due to natural causes, etc.) and consider this before purchasing. I think it would be stylish to use it as interior decoration, such as by attaching Japanese paper to the strainer part and using it as a lighting fixture!!
