This is a replica of the "Gassho Dogu," the first national treasure among the clay figures excavated in Japan. A gift from the Jomon period, was it used in rituals, or for prayers for safe childbirth? We don't know, but the excavated figure was broken at the waist. Most clay figures seem to be female. There's something that draws you in. It was unearthed from the Kazahari ruins in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, and is displayed at the Korekawa Jomon Museum. Its dimensions are: height 19.8 cm, width 14.2 cm. The replica is made as a single piece. It is almost the same size as the original.
