Wooden katsuobushi (dried bonito) shaver with a drawer, traditional design. Purchased in 1997. Used for about a year and then stored in a cupboard. I think it cost nearly 10,000 yen when I bought it. Freshly shaved katsuobushi has a wonderful aroma. When I was a child, it was a chore for us kids. We were made to help prepare meals. It wasn't such a nice shaver as this one, though. The blade is stamped with the character "お" (o). There is some rust. It seems like it would still shave, but sharpening it would be even better.
