Synopsis 14 years before the Civil War. Dunson and Groot, pioneers, are filled with the hope of creating a large farm in the green fields of Texas. On their way to the Red River, they meet a boy named Matthew, and Dunson adopts him. After the Civil War, Dunson had vast land and a huge amount of livestock, but there was no market for beef in the South. When Matthew, now an adult, returns from the war, Dunson reveals a bold plan to move 10,000 head of livestock to Missouri, where the railroad runs, to the northern and eastern markets. Cowboys such as Buster, Cherry, and Dan are hired, and the journey of the great migration begins. Matthew changes the plan to go to Missouri to Kansas, where a new railroad has been built, shortening the journey, but the road was still rough. The group encounters a wagon train being attacked by Indians and fights together to repel them, but Matthew falls in love with the beautiful Tess Millay from the wagon train. Matthew and the others finally arrive in the town of Abilene, where the railroad is located, and succeed in the great migration of cattle...
