"Stories of the Danube" Joe Zawinul A symphonic work by Austrian pianist and keyboardist Joe Zawinul, recorded in the Czech Republic in November 1995 and in NYC in February 1996. All compositions and arrangements by Zawinul. Tracks #1-#3 are classical-based symphonies that were first performed to open the Bruckner Music Festival held in Linz on September 12, 1993. Tracks #4-#10 are songs themed around ethnic issues and racial diversity. Rather than the paradisiacal atmosphere seen in Weather Report and Zawinul's solo work, this album evokes a grand atmosphere reminiscent of European civilization.
