I made a long skirt by unraveling a Meisen kimono. The original kimono was in beautiful condition, with the basting threads still attached. (Photos 12, 13, 14) Since Meisen can fade when washed with water, I only disinfected it with a hot iron. The soft brown color with yellow square patterns is cute. Inside the squares, there are red net-like patterns. The fabric is medium-thin and has a smooth texture. I put three long tucks in the front and back to reduce the volume. Although there's plenty of gathering, the tucks make the waist and hips look neat. I enjoy sewing clothes specializing in straight stitching. I use old kimonos, such as Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon, as well as obi and furoshiki, for remaking. Please consider this if you understand that there may be remaining threads, small holes, stains from used items, distortions, and double stitching. ✳︎Avoid washing as much as possible, and after wearing, hang it on a hanger to let it breathe. ✳︎Everything except the skirt is for photography purposes. ✳︎There is no lining. Please use a petticoat when wearing. Material: Likely silk Size Skirt length: Approximately 80cm Waist: Assuming a free size, I've inserted 2cm wide elastic.
