It has been opened and used as a pen a few times, and ink remains. However, the ink doesn't come out unless you press hard, so it's probably not very practical as a pen. Also, when you press the button, an illustration of Muhyo and Roji lights up. The battery seems to be low, and while the function works, the characters are barely visible.
