This is just the neck of a sanshin. A mouthpiece is attached, but you will need to create the grooves for the strings yourself using a file or similar tool. There are no cracks or splits in the neck, so I think it will be in beautiful condition if you polish it. The material is southern hardwood, so it is recommended for beginners or those who want to customize it themselves.
