This is a kettle for tea ceremony utensils. It was no longer needed when a friend was cleaning out their house. I believe it's mostly unused, but there is some staining inside due to aging. The kanji calligraphy is difficult to read, so I'm not sure, but it comes with a special paulownia wood box.
