It's relatively thinly carved, giving it a light appearance, but it has a decent weight due to being made of solid wood. I think it would be a salad bowl, but it would also be great as a kneading bowl, fruit bowl, or confectionery dish. It has a glossy grain, possibly from a Japanese horse chestnut or magnolia tree. With its natural and bright color and simple form, it seems easy to match with any style. The black parts of the wood grain are original. Dead stock, unused item.
