I stumbled upon this ancient book from 1943 at a used bookstore in Kanda-Jimbocho, a relic that has survived the ages. It includes: - Diagram for Expansion Joint Management Based on Rail Temperature - Table for Using Short Rails on Curves - Vertical Distance Table for Branching Curves These attachments demonstrate that various techniques were already established. The explanations of the handbook are written in classical Japanese, but I can barely read them. This book was officially recognized by the Ministry of Railways and cost one yen and thirty sen. I bought it not so much for reference, but because I was interested in the construction methods used at the time.
