This is a Record 2100 Sport model, released by Abu in 1945, which was the first model to feature a centrifugal brake. It has seen a fair amount of use, and the black-painted brass spacer has some paint chipping. This reel has also been a part of my collection for a long time. Originally released for long-distance casting competitions, this model was also the first Abu reel to feature a centrifugal brake mechanism. By loosening the two locking knobs on the left side plate, you can directly access the centrifugal brake stay attached to the spool shaft, allowing you to fine-tune the size and weight of the centrifugal brake as needed. Additionally, the right side plate has a fine-adjustment brake mechanism that presses felt against the spool flange to control rotation. Combined with the brake adjustment via the usual spool cap, this allows for three types of adjustments to maximize casting distance. As a result, this reel dominated the distance awards in casting tournaments worldwide after its introduction, and it remains a popular model, still sometimes used in competitions today. Mechanically, it is in good condition, and the clutch mechanism, brakes, and handle rotation all operate very smoothly even now. The differences from the 2100 Sport also listed are in the appearance, the difference in the Record fish mark, and the left side of the spool cap being chrome-plated instead of nickel-plated. After all, it was made in the same style for over 30 years since its initial release, so there are differences in the details. No accessories are included.
