This is a Selmer soprano saxophone mouthpiece, a short-shank Soloist C☆. Commonly known as "Daruma," this mouthpiece is favored by many professional jazz players, including Kazuhiko Kondo, Ken Ohta, and Zoot Sims. Zoot Sims, in particular, with the same C☆ opening, seems to have achieved that mellow sound with this mouthpiece. It's characterized by rich overtones that current mouthpieces can't replicate, and I used to play it with Vandoren Blue Box 2.5 reeds. Although it might not be as sought after on soprano, it also works well for altissimo. This mouthpiece is perfect for players who dislike harsh sounds. Unfortunately, those aiming for Dave Liebman's sound should probably pass on this. There are some slight teeth marks, but the table and rails are clean, making it a very beautiful vintage mouthpiece.
