50s USARMY M-51 Arctic Shell Trousers These trousers were developed in 1951 for cold weather protection, to be worn over M-51 cargo pants. The fabric is a cotton-nylon blend cotton poplin. Both the waist and hem have drawcords, allowing for adjustment of the voluminous silhouette to create a more defined shape.
