This item is a junk item. The power lamp lights up, but it doesn't get warm. There were Velcro strips on the kotatsu top board, but they have all peeled off and are missing. I gave up on listing the futon and mat that came with it because I couldn't get all the cat hair out even after washing them. They show signs of use, but I will include them if you want them. Even if it doesn't get warm, you could put another warm mat inside and cover it with a blanket, or use a hot water bottle. Even if it doesn't heat up, I think your cat will like it as a hideaway.
