[Brief Biography] Third Generation Tokuda Yasokichi (Masahiko) Born in 1933 as the eldest son of the second generation. Succeeded the third generation in 1988. Designated a Living National Treasure in 1997. Passed away in 2008. Learned the mixing of old Kutani glazes from the first generation Tokuda Yasokichi, and techniques such as old Kutani painting from his father, the second generation. He combined and fired four of the five colors of old Kutani (red, yellow, green, navy, and purple), excluding red, and created the beautiful gradation technique of "Yosai (耀彩 - shining color)". He received various awards, including the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition and international ceramic exhibitions. He also worked to spread Kutani ware overseas.
