I purchased this at a jewelry store that deals in precious metals over 10 years ago. Due to metal allergies, I was told that 18k gold or pure gold would be fine, so I purchased it, but I had an allergic reaction to 18k gold as well and couldn't use it. I only tried it on, and it has been stored in a jewelry box for many years. There is an engraving on the catch (confirmed by zooming in with a smartphone camera). The pin is thin, and I couldn't confirm the engraving even when zooming in with my smartphone camera due to my myopia and astigmatism. I purchased it at a jewelry store that deals in precious metals at a considerable price. It seems that older items have engravings on the catch, but not on the pin. Also, it seems that sometimes there is no engraving from the beginning due to deformation or reduced strength. This earring may also fall into that category, but please rest assured that I purchased it as 18k gold from a jewelry store that deals in precious metals, as I have allergies. I am selling it because I now use 24k gold or surgical stainless steel earrings. Topaz is my birthstone, so I bought blue topaz. I didn't plan to sell it, so I discarded the case and warranty that came with it when I purchased it, and replaced it with a jewelry box, so they are not available.
