There are some frays, but there are no problems with use. I think it's for a 4-inch depth, but it's the actual size, so please allow for some error. I actually put a 3.5-inch deep piccolo snare drum in it, so I don't think there's a big error. It's a sturdy construction for a soft case. Thank you.
