Taiwanese fanatics might know "miaohui" goods. To give a Japanese equivalent, it's like the matching hats made by the youth association during local festivals. Stylish young people in Taipei don't pay them any mind, but they're a must-have item for the "mild yankee" type of Taiwanese person in the countryside. They look uncool at first glance, but the further you go into the countryside, the more young people wear them regularly. There are almost no Japanese people who are interested in these, so I think they're rare. The embroidered characters are likely "封起雲湧" (feng qi yun yong), which is a play on words with "風起雲湧" (feng qi yun yong) because they have the same pronunciation, but I don't know the meaning. A few years ago, I received this from a friend living in Penghu, but I don't wear it, so I'll give it to someone who's kind enough to use it.
