It is now open to the public as a museum and theater. This book is a photo album of the Residenz Museum "Green Gallery". The Green Gallery (Grune Galerie) was a gallery built by Elector Karl Albrecht in the Munich Residenz. As a place for courtly social gatherings, the gallery was decorated with paintings and mirrors, and 70 paintings were displayed. The book introduces the first rediscovered paintings to the reader, including graphic reproductions, and reveals the standards that the Green Gallery once set for the German court. In addition to the restoration of the late Baroque production, the author also traces the fate of the gallery until the opening of the Alte Pinakothek. By comparing it with other important galleries of the time, the collection and its exhibition can be positioned within the context of the representative painting galleries of 18th-century Germany.
